Reasons why I was the wrong photographer. There are a lot which I’ll note below BUT it turns out I was exactly who this senior was looking for. On paper we weren’t a match. AT ALL!
Location selection was a mismatch
The majority of images I show via Instagram, Facebookand on my website are outdoor shoots. I typically photograph senior photos in fields and at the beach. I offer indoor studio photoshoots during the winter but I don’t show a lot of this. Eden wanted urban and indoors.
Styling is more feminine
I photograph A LOT of free-spirited, adventurous girls twirling in feminine dresses. Eden DID NOT want this (or so she thought). I’ve got images to prove differently, lol!
Vibes are totally different
My vibe would probably be labeled as Boho chic; super natural, glowy and beachy; think Free People. Eden was looking for Androgynous and edgy.
None of it makes sense, does it?
So why, why, why on earth would Eden book with me?!
Personality is most important
I say it over and over again, a photoshoot with me is ALL ABOUT YOU!
Yes, I have my own vibe which is definitely outdoors, beachy, boho but that doesn’t mean it’s your vibe. It also doesn’t mean that I can’t or won’t photograph someone with a different look and feel to them. I LOVE being CREATIVE. I LOVE tapping into different aspects of who you are as an individual.
Eden and I spent a lot of time creatively collaborating on the shoot with Eden being very specific about personal preferences. I loved this photoshoot because it was different and pulled out a side of Eden that even surprised her.
Despite all the reasons why I was the wrong photographer for Eden, it turns out I was exactly who Eden was looking for. Read what Eden had to say below.
I absolutely loved my experience with Paige! I went into it not quite knowing what to expect but she delivered perfectly. It felt truly collaborative instead of instructional. The atmosphere is light and joyful, and I couldn’t have asked for a better photographer 🙂
