I'm quick to laugh and cry, especially if there are kids or dogs involved. I write and photograph straight from the heart. This blog is where it all comes out - all the feels.

Now booking senior guys! I’ll bet you didn’t see that one coming. Moms, you’ve been asking for a while and I finally found my unicorn! LOL. A senior guy who in his words “Really loved” the whole photoshoot process.

What you may not know about me

I’ve been photographing my son and his sports teams for years. It’s something I’ve loved to do and once people caught on that I was a professional photographer then the sports photos became “a thing”. Then again with my daughter and her teams. I also know that if you give a guy a ball, stick, club, bat…it immediately puts him more at ease, particularly when he can move.

Everything and nothing is the same

There is so much different about photographing a guy. The differences are all on the technical side which means, lighting, camera settings, shot angles, lenses…a lot of information you don’t need to concern yourself with as long as you’ve booked the right photographer. What is NOT different is how I approach the photoshoot. We still have a styling call which again, gives him the confidence that he’s looking good. We mix up the looks – if we can get 3 different ones, that would be great, if not, it’s ok. The day of the shoot I’ll get him moving and from there it’s the same as with the girls, getting lost in the moment.

“But, he won’t do this”

I’ve heard, “I really want great photos of him, but he won’t do this” from a lot of moms. I’m the first one to say, you can’t force it. I’ve got a son who doesn’t give me a whole lot of time but there are 2 ways I’ll be able to get him in front of my camera. The easiest is when he’s doing one of his favorite sports, on the ice or on a surfboard (I’ve got that covered with your son’s photoshoot). The other way is to tell him it’s his gift to you and something you really want. Either way it’s a win.

So now, moms, it’s your turn to step up to the plate (so to speak:D) and book your Senior Guy. No excuses, if this is something you really want. You also do know, that someday, he’ll be thanking you. It may not be for a while, but he will.

P.S. Sign up here for more Senior Guy posts and information coming soon.

Let's just say...

That I put out a Model Call for a vibey editorial shoot, or maybe I had an open (discounted) slot due to a reschedule? How are you ever going to know about it if you're not on my email list?
