Putting fun into senior portraits, for most, sounds like the impossible. I promise you it’s not impossible. It’s actually really easy, as long as you’re working with the right photographer. I’ve been creating stylized senior portraits with an editorial flair for years. This is how I create images that have energy, make you smile and want you to get your besties together for senior portraits that are fun.

Create your own Squad

At the end of every year I start bringing on juniors going to be seniors for next year’s Paige P. Sr. Squad. Some people have heard them referred to as a Model Team. That has too much of an exclusivity ring to it so I call it Sr. Squad. It’s essentially a group of free-spirited, adventurous girls who love to have fun, laugh and are comfortable in front of the camera. Does it sound like you and your own group of friends? Probably.

Coming up with a concept

I’ll open a Pinterest board and ask them to pin all of the images from both my boards as well as others that they love. From there I know what their personalities are like and how far I can push the fun factor. What do you and your group of friends like to do?

Sharing a mood board

I then create a mood board pulling together the look and feel of the photoshoot. For this shopping cart photoshoot I got the eye roll. Seriously, they all thought I was a little out there. From the minute I asked one of them to get into the cart the laughter and fun never stopped. It was by far, one of the funnest shoots I’ve ever done. What images have you seen in magazines or Instagram that have had you stop the scroll saying, that would be so fun?

Photoshoot day

It’s time to play and laugh. Yes, PLAY! I grab images of individuals and all together while you’re making memories, looking totally at ease and beautiful. Of course, we do this styled and with professional hair and makeup. At the end of the photoshoot we’ve got a full gallery of scroll stopping images. Just like that, we’re back to putting fun into senior portraits.
