These photos are everything you need to know about me.
I was going through tons of old images the other day and, as you know, when you start going through old pictures it’s like falling down the rabbit hole. When I saw these it hit me that they say so much about who I am as a person and as a photographer. Here’s the story behind the mudfest, a lost boot and how these became a Christmas card.
Every couple of years the lake that we live at is lowered in the fall becoming a huge mud pit. It creates this really beautiful landscape at golden hour though, when the light is yummy delicious. I thought it would be fun to have my son and daughter hop out on the rocks for a Christmas card picture.
Hopping on rocks lasted for about 30 seconds before Cole fell into the mud…let the games begin!:D I still remember today how much we laughed. You’ll see that Riley lost a boot. They were caked in mud and we will never, ever forget that day.
My kids are my everything, watching them literally wallow in the mud, laughing hysterically and making a memory they’ll never forget is the absolute core of who I am.
Imperfect moments with the people you love most, filled with joy, creating memories you’ll feel forever.
That is me. That’s who I am as a person. That’s who I am as a photographer.

P.S. I photograph teens only, but looking at these almost make me want to include younger ages again!
