The Journey Begins

A singing 5 year old and senior portraits all come together. But first It started with an overnight flight from New York to London, a delayed and then twice delayed flight to Nice, France. We landed and made a beeline for the rental car place before it closed – it’s Europe, people 😉

Traveling with Kids

Oh, did I forget to mention that our kids were 5 and 7 at the time! Traveling with young children can be quite the adventure.

The Rental Car Rush

We begged the rental car agent to please keep the doors open, which he begrudgingly did. With a big fat attitude, he started the paperwork.

A Serendipitous Song

Over the radio came a song – Je ne veux pas travailler (I don’t want to work) and as it was playing, my 5-year-old daughter began to sing every single word in French (I taught it to her – used to live and work in France).

The Game Changer

Game changer! The agent did a double take, looked at me, and asked if she spoke French too. “No,” I said, “it’s a song we sing in the car.”

A Change in Attitude

He smiled, laughed, shook his head, and started singing. LOL!

He then upgraded our car, went and got booster seats without us asking, marked out our 3-hour car ride, and wished us bon voyage!

A Cafe Memory

Today, as I’m working in a U.S. cafe (#solopreneurlife), that song came on the radio.

Texting My Daughter

It made me smile, and I texted my daughter immediately.

Her response: “OMG, LOVE it!” She remembers it all, even though it was 17 years ago.

The Power of Memories

It brought up so many feel-good memories.

This is a very long way of saying memories are feelings from the past.
