Spring senior picture inspiration is coming your way! Class of 2024 this is your last chance to book your senior portraits, if for some reason you haven’t had them taken yet. Class of 2025 you’ve got a full year ahead of you but honestly, NOW is the time to book your senior portraits in 2024.

Here in the northeast we’re counting the days until spring begins. As of this writing there are 18 days until the official beginning of spring. I. AM. READY! I think all of us are. I‘ve pulled together some of my favorite spring senior photoshoots to give you some spring senior picture inspo. Let’s jump start you thinking to how you’d like your spring senior portraits to look and feel. Let’s get started!

Incorporating spring flowers

I know I’m stating the obvious but spring senior picture inspiration wouldn’t be complete unless we talked about incorporating flowers. You’d be surprised at how few people take the time to search out a location that’s going to be in bloom on your booked date. It requires a little bit of planning. Ask your photographer the best places for some photos in a bed of flowers. I love tucking them behind the ear, spinning and/or laying in a field of blooms.

Pro tip: Remember to coordinate your outfits with whatever is blooming.

What to wear for Spring Senior sessions

You can do flower on flowers if that’s your look. Make sure this doesn’t conflict with who YOU are, your personality! If flowers are not your “thing”. DON’T DO IT. You want your senior pictures to be all about you not about the season. The idea is to incorporate the best of the spring season into your senior photoshoot. We doubled up on the flowers below; behind Lindsey’s ear and her outfit. It totally speaks to her personality. Love!

If flowers aren’t your “thing” then choose soft colors that do speak to the season. The other part of this top that works is that it has so much visual interest. The sleeves with a ruffle, detailed material and bows all subtly say spring time.

Embrace the springtime weather

Spring weather isn’t known for its consistency and sometimes, just sometimes….you have to roll with it. If my senior client and I decide to move ahead with her photoshoot even though the weather may look iffy, I always ask her to bring rain boots. I supply the huge umbrella. I have an assortment of them – LOL! And then, if we have senior pictures scheduled on a gorgeous day but it rained the night before, still bring the rain boots. I love the shots we got of Morgan playing in the puddles!

Prop ideas for your senior pictures

Charlie brought her pink bike to her senior photoshoot. I found a gorgeous tree in bloom and it was a match made in heaven. We ended up stopping traffic more than once – it was worth it! And then, my favorite, Lauren had her senior portraits with her horse. I’m not so sure this is a spring only “prop”. but when I think of spring senior pictures inspo, my mind immediately goes to a farm with baby chicks, a playground with puppies or flowers.

Senior picture spring inspo for a transitional season.

Although, as noted above, spring can have erratic weather it’s also a great time of year for transitional dressing. I love the juxtaposition of long sleeves or a light weight sweater with shorts and boots. Although the photos below don’t necessarily yell spring, it’s a great time of year to have a senior photoshoot because the weather works so well with this type of dressing and isn’t a season with extreme temperatures.
