The most important milestones to capture photos of your teens are 13 years old, Freshman year and Senior year in high school. Oddly enough you’d think that the youngest would be the most nervous prior to a photoshoot but it’s not. It’s definitely the Freshmen. Catalina is a freshman and wasn’t any different. She really wanted no part of this but her mom saw the importance of starting high school and wanted something more meaningful than the first day of school picture. She also has a daughter who’s on my senior squad and is crazy happy with Natalia’s photos and the Senior Squad experience.
Any nervousness usually comes from not knowing what to expect, like anyone else it’s fear of the unknown. Here’s what to expect before a photoshoot.
From the moment we book your date I’ll lead you from one step to the next.
First, I send you a bunch of information that will help you start thinking about how you want to feel during your photoshoot. That’s a strange question to ask and sometimes tough to answer but I have something that will help with that;) Most people come to me because they want that magazine style, editorial look I’m known for and we discuss that as well.
You’ll get a guide on how to start pulling clothes for your styling consultation. I’m not asking you to pull outfits (what would be the sense of a styling call?)!
Then, during the styling call we pull from your drawers and closets to make sure you have different looks that I know will work well on camera and you’re comfortable with. We also talk about locations.
If you want to go shopping and get something special, I’ll send you a list of stores (including online) where I know they have what you’re looking for. For those of you who really want a whole new wardrobe, I have a source for that as well. If you’re ready to hit the buy button but aren’t sure, text me a pic and I’ll give you my honest opinion. It happens all the time!
After the outfits are nailed down you receive a Call Sheet. This has images of your outfits, details needed for the photoshoot and a list of what to bring so that you don’t forget anything the day of your photoshoot.
Finally, I send you a skin prep guide with what to do the week leading up to your appointment. My makeup artists absolutely know when this has been followed prior to the photoshoot!
Next step…Photoshoot day! But that’s for another post 😉 Still worried? Get in touch and I’d be happy to speak with you.
