Identifying gaps in your Senior portrait business can lead to exponential growth. An additional bonus is clarity towards building your dream business. And who doesn’t want to create their dream business?!
What is a gap?
GAP /gap/ : an unfilled space or interval. A break in continuity. I’ll give you an example below to show you just how quickly identifying a gap can turn things around for your senior portrait business and honestly, any creative business.
Example of a gap
Picture this: you’re out in a field, snapping away during a senior photoshoot, and suddenly your client drops the bomb, “That isn’t my good side.” And you’re thinking, wait, what? You do a quick shuffle to get the shot from the “good side.” You make a mental note: figure out how to avoid this in the future, asap!
Later, back at home, it hits you. Without even realizing it, you might’ve missed out on a bigger sale if you hadn’t known about the “good side” preference. And who knows, maybe you’ve been missing out on sales before because you never asked your clients what they’re sensitive about when being photographed.
Gaps impact EVERYTHING in your business
It’s not just about the money though. Absolutely, higher sales are great, but it’s also about having happy clients who rave about you to everyone they know. It’s like a domino effect, you fix one thing, and suddenly everything falls into place.
Why it’s hard to identify YOUR gaps
Identifying gaps in your Senior portrait business is not as easy as it sounds because they’re hiding in plain sight? As photographers we’re caught up in serving our clients while also constantly creating. It causes a lack of self awareness because we’re too busy to take a step back and look at our business objectively. Even if you do have the self awareness, you’ll still miss things (been there!) because we’re too close to our own business for our own good.
Something feels off in your Senior Photography business
When something feels off in your business then it probably is. If you’re feeling stuck with your client experience, your sales could use a boost, you’re not capturing the images you want or just not attracting clients then chances are very good there’s a gap(s). But here’s the thing: you don’t have to do it alone.
The most effective way to fill gaps
You can have accountability partners, group coaching, memberships, which all help. Based on my own personal experience though, I’ve had exponential growth every time I’ve worked privately with a coach.
It’s all about identifying those gaps, developing systems, processes, communication methods for eliminating them so that you grow towards the photography business of your dreams. And the best part is you are tailoring it specifically to your needs, your unique business not
Schedule a Discovery Call and let me know where you’re feeling stuck. I’m sure I can help you. I’ve been a niche senior portrait photographer for 11 years in a market that, when I started, had no idea what senior portraits are. Now they do! I’m happy to say I’ve got a senior portrait business that I love, working with clients who are “my people”, refer me endlessly and I’m consistently earning premium pricing.
