When do I book senior pictures is a common question that I’m asked all of the time. Here are the 5 benefits to booking this fall. I could list the number one benefit as it being my favorite time to photograph but I have reasons!! LOL!

1. Weather

I’m going with the Goldilocks theory, it’s not too hot, not too cold, juuuuuust right! Fall in New Jersey has become absolutely spectacular! The days are cool but not hot and it’s seeming to stay like that further and further into the fall with every year.

2. Colors

Have you ever heard of golden hour? It’s the time of day when photographers love to photograph at the end of the day because there’s a soft golden light. During the fall everything becomes golden and no you don’t have to wait until peak leaf season. There’s a softness of light that September brings with it that I describe as yummy, delicious. Need I say more?

3. Layers

If you’ve been following me for any bit of time and/or have gone to the Editorial blogs I’ve posted then you know that layering is a thing with me. Why? Go get my 3 Secrets to Styling and you’ll learn (among other things) that it adds visual interest. Being that the weather is “just right” we can incorporate so many different types of layers into your photoshoot which gives you a great bang for your buck with different looks.

4. School vacation days

I don’t know what it is but it seems that there are an awful lot of vacation days and half days from school during the fall semester. This is regardless of which school calendar you’re following. That gives us flexibility for scheduling BUT you need to get in touch ASAP because I’ve already filled a couple of the vacation days.

5. Mental Health

I know, I’ve been through it with my own kids. This is the time of year that the stress piles on and I mean PILES ON! It sounds counter-intuitive but it’s the perfect time to call a TIME. OUT. and schedule senior pictures. Every year I have at least one client calling to reschedule because they’re too stressed out. My schedule doesn’t typically allow for that AND as they will be the first to admit, having done the photoshoot they’re in SUCH A BETTER STATE of MIND than prior to the photoshoot. Thrilled they went through with it.

6. Bonus benefit

A fall photoshoot means that, moms, you’ll have an automatic source of meaningful holiday gifts for grandparents, family and/or your teen. See, I’m always thinking;).

My fall is 75% full. I only book 1-2 photoshoots per week. NOW is the time to book your senior pictures because honestly, it’s a PERFECT time of year for it.
